Volunteering
At Wild Finca, we have been welcoming Workaways since we first arrived. Workaways have helped us create the veggie patch, care for the boys, look after the animals, build for both us and for the wildlife (many many ponds have been dug with the help of Workaways!!!), fencing, gate-making and so much more! Alongside this we have enjoyed stockbrot over the fire, as well as all manner of other culinary delights from around the world, and made some life-long friends. You can see our profile on Workaway here, and read reviews that give insight about what to expect from doing Workaway with us at Wild Finca.
Most recently we have had people reach out directly about coming to volunteer to get hands-on small-scale rewilding experience, which we now offer from October through to March.
For all volunteering we ask for 5 hours work a day, 5 days a week, and the work is not for the faint of heart! In exchange you can expect a cosy bed, good food and to become part of the Wild Finca family. For more of an idea about how this works, see some of the guest book entries from our volunteers below.
What our volunteers say….

The work has been exhausting but rewarding and I feel like I've learned a lot, from how to dig and line a perfect pond, to the sound of a chough and the price of an Asturian cow. I’ve also learned that I will have to work a lot on my arm and back muscles if i’m ever going to reach Luke Massey levels of speed and efficiency! Can’t wait to visit again! -Jolyon, Rewilding student at Embercombe

We have learned so much about regenerative farming, wildlife behaviour, the natural rhythms of finca life, and also about co-living and sharing space and resources with others. We walk away super fulfilled and grateful for our time here at Wild Finca. Thank you all again for providing such a beautiful opportunity to be present in nature and surrounded by so many of the simple pleasures that we love - Nicole & Gijs

Thank you so much for welcoming me to your beautiful finca and including me in your lovely family for this past week. I will think fondly of the multiple lucky chicken-of-the-woods spottings, followed by delicious meals including them in creative ways!…Most of all, I genuinely leave this week feeling inspired. Wild Finca is a magical place and I am in awe of what you’ve been able to create here in just a few years. I hope to bring even an ounce of that with me to include rewilding in my future in some way, shape or form - Vivien, USA

Somewhere between detesting stinging nettles after tearing them out of the vegetable patch for hours, and then loving them, learning that they prevent arthritis and make a cake more fun. Between Luke teaching us about the Red-backed Shrike and Roan telling us about dinosaurs. Between learning about sourdough, and every kind of fermented substance thanks to Katie, and acquiring the best techniques regarding hole-digging from the pondmaster Luke. Somewhere between falling asleep to frog croaking every night and waking up to bird chirping every morning, the time has flown by. Luke and Katie we cannot put into words how grateful we are - Sophia & Nils, Germany

Third time back at Wild Finca and it’s been another amazing week. Thanks for letting us help out. One day these ponds will be fixed and stay fixed. Who knows, maybe the Sandpiper will bring a friend next time! - Ewout, Belgium
I had an amazing week full of digging ponds, taking lovely walks, painting your wall and being amazed at the landscapes every time I went outside - Marit, Belgium -

Thank you so much for having us at your amazing selfmade farm. We had the best views from our campervan, marvellous sunrises and crystal clear nights to watch the stars. Thank you so so much for taking me in like one of the family. You live in such a beautiful place and have the most inspiring dream (that’s already a reality). What you have done and are doing is excatly what the earth needs. I wish you the best of luck for the years to come! I was able to learn a lot in the short time I spent there, new edible flowers (thanks to Roan) how to plant a tree! The importance of wildlife and loads of other stuff both personally and practically. It was a fab experience and so nice to use my body to calm my mind and do good things. Wishing you all the best, lots of love, happiness and WILDLIFE - Lucy, from Leicester lives in Berlin
